Don't Be Afraid by C.A. Harms ~ EXCERPT REVEAL ~

DON'T BE AFRAID by CA Harms

A Second Chance Contemporary Romance

Have you ever looked at someone and just knew,

knew that they were put in your life for a reason?

The one person that would be not only your best friend,
but would be your absolute everything?
That’s how I felt the first time I saw him.

That one day when a few little words changed our entire lives forever…

Don’t be Afraid, he said.
Life can change so quickly.
One moment you can be smiling and feeling as if you're walking on clouds and the next, everything you love, everything you treasure crumbles at your feet.

I told him to fight, I told him I needed him.
We needed him.
But there are just some fights that can't be won…

He was my angel then, and he’s still my angel now.
In a way, I believe he’s still looking out for us, giving us a future.
Sometimes it’s as if I can still feel his presence,
guiding us and keeping us safe.

So, I won’t be Afraid.
I'll live. I’ll fight.
It’s what he would have wanted.
I’ll do it for him…

EXCERPT REVEAL
I sat in the darkness with my legs curled up in the chair, my body shielded by the large blanket I had wrapped around me. I’d thought of going to bed a long time ago, but instead, I was listening to the Pat’s breathing patterns.

This was his third night sleeping in the hospital bed in the center of our living room, and though he hated it, I knew it was easier for him to sleep on than our old worn out couch.

Each night after he’d fallen asleep, I tried to go to bed, but I eventually found myself back in the living room, watching him and listening to his breathing. I guess I needed it for my piece of mind. Though his breaths were weak and labored, I still needed to be able to hear them. I think in some weird way it was comforting.

When he was asleep he wasn’t angry or fighting to push people away. He was just peaceful. I needed to see him this way, I guess, because the hard times were beginning to drown out those happy memories and each day I found it more and more difficult to hold myself together.

The room was dark, save for the illumination from the light above the sink in the kitchen. The gentle hum of the refrigerator was the only other sound. I’m not sure at what point I allowed myself to fall asleep, but I was jolted awake by the sound of his raspy voice filtering through the darkness.

“Sawyer.”

I sat up straight and the cover slipped from my shoulders as I leaned forward, looking him over from head to toe. My heart raced as the thought of being here alone with him when something catastrophic happened. The moment my eyes reached his, I found him staring back at me.

“Is everything okay?” He shook his head, and my heart seized in my chest. I stood and walked toward his bed, my hands shaking as I did my best to stay in control of my fears. “What hurts?”

He lifted his hand and rested it over his heart.

I stared at him in confusion.

“I’m sorry.” I could sense whatever it was on his mind was hard for him to face as his eyes shimmered with unshed tears. “Please don’t hate me.”

Suddenly it was hard to breathe.

“Why would I hate you?” I took his hand and offered a gentle squeeze. “I could never hate you, Patrick.”

“I’ve been such an ass and knowing this, but unable to control it breaks me.”

“You’re going through so much,” I said as I sat on the edge of his bed.

“So are you.”

I closed my eyes for only a moment when he ran his fingers through my hair that hung loose over my shoulders. “I’ve allowed the fear to consume me and gave it the power to make me forget what I have. I’m just scared.”

I opened my eyes, and his cheeks were wet from the tears he tried to control.

“I’m so scared of everything I’m gonna miss. I’m scared of not being here to protect you an Abigail.” He took in a shuddering breath. “I don’t want you to be alone, Sawyer.”

Scoring Mr. Romeo by A.M. Madden & Joanne Schwehm ~ RELEASE BLITZ ~

SBPRBanner-SMR-RB

Scoring Mr. Romeo by A.M. Madden and Joanne Schwehm
Release Date: January 15th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

SMR_FrontCover.jpg

Here’s a tip: never underestimate romance.
Falling in love was the furthest thing from my mind. I’m a single mother raising a strong little boy, and he is my one and only priority.
The universe felt otherwise, sending me―actually, my son’s soccer ball―hurdling toward a stunningly handsome, perfect man, who said all the right things. He made it hard to ignore how much I missed romance.
In the past, when I met a man, they ran as soon as they heard I was a widow with a child. Not this guy. No, he fell in love with my son, and in turn my son fell in love with him. But, it was hard to believe he felt the same about me. My job was to be the strong one―to protect our hearts from sweet dreams that never lasted.
~~~
Women told me I was a master of romance. They were right. I knew how to sweep a woman off her feet, to make her feel special, and good in all the right places. I wasn’t a saint. I’ve had my share of one-night stands. They served their purpose, giving me a steady diet of romance without the hassle of commitment.
Then one day at the park, a soccer ball came careening toward my head, and my life changed in an instant. I never imagined that true love would come in the form of a five-year-old little boy. And then I got to know his mother: She was strong, independent, drop-dead gorgeous, and someone I desired - I just needed to prove it to her.
She called me Mr. Romeo, and that was fine with me.
Lesson learned: Love always trumps everything.
Watching Mine by Alex Grayson ~ COVER REVEAL ~ GIVEAWAY ~
COVER REVEAL
COVER DESIGN by Cover Me Darling
My name is Nathan Reines… and I’m a voyeur. Yes, I like to watch people have sex. Witnessing the desire on their faces as they writhe in pleasure makes my blood hotter than the hottest flame. There’s nothing more erotic than seeing their bodies tighten and tremble as they balance on the edge of ecstasy. It makes my dick as hard as fucking steel.
I’ve never been tempted to have a lasting relationship with a woman—why get involved when watching from the sidelines is so fucking hot? But from the first time I watched the woman in the apartment across from mine, I knew she was different. She teases me with her soft touches and gentle caresses. She tempts me with her silent moans and sexy whimpers. She excites me, and makes me want more than I ever have before.
For two years, I refused to give in to my curiosity. That is, until fate took things in her own twisted hands. Now that I know what it’s like to experience Emberleigh in the flesh, there’s no damn way I could ever go back to simply watching.
“Hey, Nathan,” Tegan calls. I look over and find him looking behind me. “Isn’t that—” He stops midsentence, leans forward, causing Willow to lean with him, and squints. A big grin spreads across his face a second later, and his eyes flicker to me. “9B,” he finishes, then leans back in his chair.
My back straightens, and I whip my head around. My eyes tighten into slits as I look through the darkness of the room.
The place is packed with bodies. Some at tables, some standing around talking to others, some out on the dance floor. I look from one person to the next, seeking out the only person of interest to me.
It doesn’t take long before I find her. She’s out on the dance floor, facing me, with some guy standing behind her. His hands are on her hips as she slowly sways to the music. Her blonde hair is swept up high on her head. With her eyes closed, she’s resting her head back against the guy’s chest with her arms lifted and her hands tangled in his hair.
There’s about thirty feet separating us and it’s dark in the room, but I can still see the look of pleasure on her face. My dick, already at attention, grows thicker.
Someone steps in my line of sight, blocking her from view, and a growl leaves my lips. I’m just about to get up and knock the fucker away, when he moves.
Not bothering to tell the others I’m leaving, I get up and grab my beer to move closer. There’s a table at the edge of the dance floor that’s conveniently empty. I turn the chair around so it faces the dance floor and take a seat. There’s now only fifteen feet between us.
She’s wearing a black silky halter-type dress that hugs her tits, then turns loose and flows down the rest of her body. It stops midthigh, but with her arms raised, it barely covers her cunt. I have no doubt if she were to bend over, her ass would show. Her black sandals are high, and even in the dark, they sparkle from some type of glittery shit that’s all over them.
My eyes slowly rake down her body, taking in every inch of her. I’ve seen her completely bare, but never this close. Her naked body is a work of art, but seeing her this close, even clothed, is so much better.
When my gaze finally tracks back up to her face, my damn dick begs to be let loose. Her eyes are now open and she’s looking straight at me. She appears surprised, which makes me wonder if she remembers me from this morning on the street.
The shock is soon replaced with lust. Her tongue darts out to lick along her lips and her gaze turns hooded. My body responds to her blatant show of want. She doesn’t know me, but she still wants me from just a simple look.
She slowly lowers her arms, her nails dragging over the guy’s neck, then runs them down her sides. They skim along the outside of her tits, over his hands that are still on her hips, to the tops of her thighs. Her eyes stay connected with mine the whole time, as if she knows exactly what she’s doing to me. The guy behind her pushes his hips forward, grinding into her ass. She bites her lip and presses herself back against him. When his lips land on the side of her neck, she tilts her head to the side, giving him better access.
My hand tightens around my beer.
Fuck me. This woman is a goddamn temptress and she knows just what to do to tempt my control.
I grab my dick and try in vain to make more room in my jeans. Her eyes widen when I move my hand away. I bring my beer to my lips and take a long pull. With a smirk, I sit back in my seat and enjoy the show.
My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards. We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s.  Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction. I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter.  Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us.  His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off.  But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.  We ended up back in my hotel room.  The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number. I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby.  Our attraction hadn't dulled one bit.  After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time.  So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home. I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner.  The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city.  He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems. Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose? Nothing, I thought. It’s just sex, not love. But you know what they say about the best laid plans…
Excerpt:
It’s dark now and quiet except for the crickets. In the distance, the town of North Ridge glows, the lights giving way to the dark mountain ranges behind it and beyond that, a clear, starry sky. I immediately feel better but it’s not enough. I need to walk, to get my head on straight, to get my heart to stop caving in. I head down the slope to the barn. It’s second nature to want to come here during hard times. Growing up, if anyone in the house was fighting—and it was usually Shane and Fox—this was where you’d find them afterwards, licking their wounds. Right now the barn is empty, all the horses are either in their paddocks or the pastures. I glance up at the hayloft and contemplate going up there when I hear footsteps behind me. I immediately stiffen. It’s funny how you can feel someone’s specific presence without seeing them. “What’s wrong with you?” Fox asks gruffly from behind me. Typical. Even if he’s concerned, sometimes he comes across like it annoys him to be concerned. I take in a deep breath and turn around. “I don’t know,” I say, my voice measured. “Just felt a bit nauseous.” He studies my face intently, so intently that I look away, my eyes drifting over the empty stalls. “I thought maybe I’d pissed you off somehow,” he says. Is he baiting me? I meet his eyes. “Why would you think that?” “You could barely look at me during dinner,” he says, taking a step toward me until he’s a foot away. “Was it something I did? Is this about Conan?” He’s so damn earnest in that last question that I have to laugh. I fold my arms across my chest. “No, Fox. This isn’t about your squirrel. It’s not about anything. I’m just…tired.” I can tell he doesn’t believe me and the intensity has changed in his eyes. They’ve become more focused on me, like he’s seeing me for the first time and nothing else around us matters. “I like this,” he says, his voice sounding thick. He takes a strand of my hair between his fingers and runs them down. “Your hair is so long. You should wear it down more often.” I roll my eyes and hope I’m not blushing. “You guys are all the same. A girl wears her hair down and puts on some makeup and suddenly you realize that she’s actually hot. It’s like She’s All That come to life.” Oh shit. I probably shouldn’t have said that last bit out loud since it’s a whole bunch of assumptions and I’m not one to flatter myself like that. But he just grins. One of those cheeky, warm smiles that makes his eyes crinkle at the corners, the dimples appear in his scruff. He doesn’t smile like that very often and every time he does for me, it makes me feel…invincible.“Del, I’ve always thought you were hot,” he says, still smiling. No awkwardness or hesitation. He just comes out and says it. And now I am blushing. “Yeah right.” “What?” he asks, tucking my hair behind my ear and—hell—his touch causes warm shivers to wash down my back. “It’s true. I mean, look at you.” Don’t read into it. Don’t read into it. “Do you remember that birthday party where we played spin the bottle?” I ask him, my voice sounding broken. He nods. “Kind of.” But he doesn’t remove his hand, keeps playing with my hair. I don’t know why I’m feeling brave all of a sudden but I am. “Well you spun the bottle and it stopped right at me. No mistake about it. And you got up and said it was stupid and left. Fox, we were good friends and you acted like kissing me was the worst thing on earth.” His dark brows knit together but his eyes stay warm. “You remember that?” “Fox. I’m a woman. I’m always going to remember when a boy rejects me, especially my best friend and especially at a young age.” “But we were young. And I was pretty stupid back then.” “You thought I was gross.” He lets out a soft laugh. “I can promise you I did not think you were gross.” His hand then leaves my hair and trails down my arm to my hand. Sometimes Fox holds it and I know I shouldn’t think anything of it but every time he does I wonder if he realizes what it does to me. Then again, I’m starting to think he’s oblivious to absolutely everything. “I didn’t kiss you,” he goes on, “not because I didn’t want to. I did.” He swallows, shrugs. “I just didn’t want our first kiss to be from spin the bottle.” Hold up…what? “What do you mean? Our first kiss?” I repeat, my pulse quickening.  “I don’t know, Del. Back then, I kind of assumed that we would end up together at some point. You know all through high school I had just been waiting to make my move and ask you out. At least figure out if you liked me or not. But then you started going out with that guy with the big ears, what was his name, Ryan McGee? And that’s when I realized that it was probably all in my head. You were just a friend. A sister, even. And I was just a brother to you.” Holy. Fucking. Shit. This is way too much to process. Fox thought we’d end up together. He actually liked me back in high school!“You look shocked,” he says, raising a brow. “I thought it was pretty obvious.” “Obvious?” I blurt out. “No. No it wasn’t.” He lets go of my hand and shrugs with one shoulder. “It’s funny how life goes, isn’t it? It was probably for the best anyway. Could you have imagined us dating? Being a couple.” Yes, fucking yes.
Reviewed By Wendy
3.5 stars
Fox and Delilah have been dancing around each other since the beginning of the series. There was something there and we just needed more. It was nice to finally get their story. And it was a complicated one. The Nelsons have had their share of tragedy when they were younger but it seems that Fox took it the hardest. And we see the effects of that in Hot Shot. Delilah has always been there for the family as a sister figure. But she always felt more for Fox and kept it all inside. What will happen between these two and will it lead to a good ending?
Fox was a very complicated man. He had some good and bad parts to him. Delilah was a sweet soul and the effect she had on Fox was evident. Their relationship was a tricky one and seeing how it progressed made for an angsty read. It was heartbreaking but there was a chance for it to be hopeful. The characters and plot line were intriguing and I was anxious to see how the story would play out. It was great to see the previous two couples as well as other supporting characters that play integral parts in the story. Karina packs a punch with the intensity. Hot Shot was a pleasant read that keeps you interested.
The muscles in Kieran’s jaw ticked, and the anger rolling off his body suddenly felt like a living thing. But his stare never wavered from mine as I soundlessly opened the knife at my side.
“Or did I hit a little too close for comfort last night?” I asked, my voice both seductive and mocking as I took another step closer to him and then another. “Could you just not satisfy her?”
“Enough.”
My brows rose at the growl behind his demand. “Is that right?”
His eyes held so much warning as I took the last step to press my body against his.
My body trembled and begged to get closer still, but I forced myself not to move.
I hated him for the way he felt.
I hated him for the way my body craved more and betrayed me.
I hated him for everything he was and for making me want him in a way I’d never wanted a man.
I hated him.
“Who knew the mob’s feared assassin was lacking.”
One second I was in front of him, staring into those wild eyes, the next I was pressed face-first to the wall with Kieran’s hard body caging me against it. His strong hands were pinning mine to the wall. My knife was gone.
His chest moved roughly against my back, his breath made my hair dance along my cheek and lips, and I ached to push against where I could feel his hardened length in his jeans.
Oh God.
What is wrong with me?
I tried to force a wild laugh from my lungs.
I tried to taunt him.
But there was nothing.
“How long?” he demanded, his voice hoarse.
I curled my hands against the wall and shivered beneath him when his body moved closer and he pressed our hands harder to the wall.
“What?” I asked breathlessly.
“How long have you been watching us?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
A huff tumbled from my lips when his mouth met my ear. The sound ended on a whimper when the movement forced my butt against his erection.
I needed the heavy, sickening feeling weighing my body down. I needed the disgust and hatred at having a man so close. I needed the reminder of who I was and why I did what I did.
But all I could smell was the subtle hint of his soap.
All I could see was his tattooed arms twisting over mine.
All I could feel was his lean muscles crowding around me in a way that felt so foreign and good.
And I wanted more . . .
Weak. So weak.
“How long?”
My body tensed.
If he had yelled the question, it might have been easier. But there was something truly terrifying in the soft tenor of his voice. And for the first time, I was afraid to be in the same room as him.
But I wasn’t scared for my life.
I was scared for my soul.
I slowly looked over my shoulder and forced myself to hold his disturbing stare. “Nearly half my life.”
AMIE'S 5 STAR REVIEW
Well what can I say about this story but that it blew my hopes out of the water and gave me so much more than I expected. I had a hard time with all the Kieran/Lily stuff in the last book because I wasn't sure that they belonged together but you couldn't help feel for Kieran that he was suffering loss. I was so happy to see Kieran have some peace finally - it didn't come easy but it does come. Jessica was the last person I would have thought Kieran would connect with BUT it was an instant connection. Of course now this has me feeling for Beck because I mean come on - when does he find his happiness. He is always the best friend and the fixer of all things emotional for Kieran and Lily, and for Jessica he has just always been THERE , wanting more but trying in his own way to save her from herself. At this point in all their lives their past and present become intertwined and the mess is complete CHAOS !! In true Molly fashion we are delivered a suspenseful and hot story , fulfilling and heartbreaking all in one !! We know Kieran's past and why he is who he is but hearing Jessica's past was unbelievable and horrific. I should have realized that since it was the last book in this standalone series that the one person I had grown to love was not going to get their story , the why of that was just devastating BUT again this is Molly and she is known to rake us over hot coals !! It was nice to get a glimpse at the life Dare and Lily were living as well. Looking forward to what comes next and hope that Molly gives us some more of this suspenseful forbidden type reading.
