Jill's Review of Drunk On YOu by Harper Sloan ~ REVIEW BLITZ ~

    Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00005]

It was supposed to be fun. A mutual use of each other's bodies. To be a ruse to the world around us. I wanted to be free from my ex, and he wanted to escape his.   One drunken night turned a joke into a life-changing moment. He warned me not to fall for him, and I should've listened.   He intoxicated me. He made me crave him. He ruined me. In the end, I'll never be the same.

REVIEWED BY JILL

3.5 stars for - Drunk On You - book four in the Hope Town series by Harper Sloan. I have long been a fan of this author's work and I am a firm believer that she isn't capable of writing a bad book, but this one was not my favorite. There were just too many things in this book that didn't work for me, but by no means do I regret reading it - I'm guessing it was more of a timing thing then anything. This book can and does stand-alone from the series with very minimal spoilers and like with all the Corps and Hope Town books we see a few of our favorite couples from previous books.
Nikki Clark grew up as Ember's best friend and a honorary member of the Locke family. So watching her friend fall in love / marry Nate Reid makes Nikki not want to settle for the jerk she was dating for the last few years. She realizes she was settling for a man that treated her poorly and decides to stand up for herself, but even now a year down the road he refuses to leave her alone. Hoping if he sees her with another man he will finally take the hint - so she comes up with the friends with benefits idea and asks Shane how he feels about it.
Shane Kingston is also dealing with a crazy ex-girlfriend that can't seem to realize that the minute she cheated on him they were done. So when the gorgeous Nikki decides she wants a "no strings" arrangement he feels like he hit the lottery! The only problem is his business partner / best friend's wife is also Nikki's friend and things could get very ugly if things go south.  The more time he and Nikki spend together the more attracted he is to her in every way and he has never felt like this before...
This was a incredibly sexy, steamy and even a wee bit kinky story of two people who accidentally fall in love when they least expect to. With a small amount of angst, a tiny bit of drama and a large helping of acceptance to round out this storyline another HEA is reached. There was a teaser of one of the Cage twins possibly hooking up with Shane's sister - now that's one story I can't wait to read.
